The American College of Clinical Engineering (ACCE) has selected AAMI President Mary Logan to receive its Healthcare Technology Management (HTM) Champion Award for her advocacy for the field throughout the health care sector, in government circles, and in the eyes of the general public – venues that traditionally have had limited understanding of or appreciation for the work of HTM professionals. This recognition comes as Logan prepares to retire at the end of the year.
The HTM Champion Award, which is part of ACCE’s Advocacy Awards program, is conferred on a health delivery system leader who has championed clinical engineering and HTM in a manner that has significantly enhanced the status of the profession. Logan is just the fourth recipient of this award, which will be presented at a reception during the AAMI 2016 Conference & Expo, running June 3-6 in Tampa, Florida. She is the first winner who is not a physician.
The previous winners of this award are Joel Nobel, MD, founder of the ECRI Institute; Adam Darkins, MD, leader of the National Telehealth Programs for the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs; and Douglas Grey, MD, who retired from Kaiser Permanente in 2012.
