Biomeds learn, network and more in Indy
Indianapolis was the hot spot for biomeds and HTM professionals in early May. MD Publishing teamed up with the Indiana Biomedical Society to host an HTM Mixer on May 2 and 3.
Almost 300 healthcare technology professionals descended on the heart of the city at the Westin Indianapolis for the HTM Mixer.
The HTM Mixer is a hybrid event that combines the best of a state association annual meeting and an MD Expo. The HTM Mixer was a two-day event with an exhibit hall, educational opportunities and networking.
The educational sessions covered a variety of important topics including the importance of ACI certification, contrast injectors, CMMS, Right-to-Repair, Phaco systems, team building, time management, cybersecurity and more.
Trimedx’s Jeffrey Ruiz, CHTM, is the senior site manager-West Michigan with the Sparrow & Holland Organizations. He praised the HTM Mixer.
“Networking, education, synergy” Ruiz said when asked to describe the HTM Mixer in three words.
“Cybersecurity strategies for downtime events. Having the discussion with our fellow brothers and sisters in the IT arena on identifying any gaps during a cyber downtime event. It may be IT, it might be HTM, or a little of both. What matters is having these discussions and determining on how we can work together,” is among the things Ruiz said he learned at the HTM Mixer.
He added that the HTM Mixer is “a great opportunity to identify how the Indianapolis region is handling all things HTM.”
“Events such as the HTM Mixer allow us to see a different perspective on the many similar challenges we are all facing. True that some of the perspectives are obtained in the various training sessions. However, many are also made between sessions and throughout the day,” Ruiz added.
Earl Morris Jr., BMET, is a one-man department at Harrison County Hospital in Corydon, Indiana. He said this was his first HTM Mixer.
“I would describe the Indy mixer interesting. I was not for sure what to expect as it was a local to me event. It was nice talking and getting to know other biomeds in my area that I could possibly reach out to if I needed anything,” Morris said. “I think it exceeded all of my expectations, as I was not for sure what to expect as it was my first HTM Mixer.”
Morris was a presenter at the HTM Mixer and was pleased with the attendance.
“I believe it was well attended. It was fun and educational, I enjoyed it as it was my first time presenting a topic as well,” he said. “I hope that I can grow that into something larger than myself and encourage the other biomeds.”
The HTM Jobs duo of Kristen Register and Sydney Krieg said the exhibit hall was busy and they were able to meet several HTM professionals during the exhibit hall hours.
