More than $30,000 will be awarded to healthcare technology management (HTM) leaders, innovators, and students during a special ceremony at the AAMI 2016 Conference & Expo. The conference will be held June 3-6 in Tampa, FL.
“There are so many HTM professionals who work tirelessly to advance the safety and effectiveness of healthcare technology, and each year we strive to honor the best and the brightest,” said Sabrina L. Reilly, AAMI’s vice president of membership and marketing. “Through our annual awards program, AAMI and the AAMI Foundation recognize innovators working on patient safety issues, HTM leaders, biomedical equipment technicians, and many more. We encourage you to nominate your peers so the community can see the ways they are shaping the future of healthcare technology.”
The AAMI Foundation, through its Awards Committee, will also be awarding five scholarships at AAMI 2016. Two scholarships will be awarded to students studying to become biomedical equipment technicians, two will be given to clinical engineering students, and one will be awarded to an individual studying to become a health systems engineer or equivalent.
“It is important to focus on education and training so that HTM professionals are ready to tackle the complex challenges found in the healthcare ecosystem,” said Patrick Bernat, AAMI’s director of HTM. “The scholarships awarded by the AAMI Foundation are one way to ensure we continue to support and develop the next generation of HTM professionals.”
Awards nominations and scholarship applications are due by Feb. 15, 2016.
