The Central Florida Biomedical Society (CFBS) – a nonprofit chapter organization under the Florida Biomedical Society (FBS) covering the Central Florida region – has announced its new board members for 2021. Bringing diverse and extensive industry experience, the new board members share a goal to grow the society and support the greater FBS.
The 2021 board members are:
- Ric Downs, CFBS President, brings over 17 years of knowledge and experience in the Fortune 500 and private health care service. He also currently serves as vice president of business development for Avante Health Solutions where he oversees oncology and diagnostic service leadership within the organization. Downs has a long history in organizational advancement and advocacy, dating back to college, he has fundraised in numerous volunteer capacities and has experience working as a sales trainer in biotech, a director for US Oncology and leadership roles at D3 UPMC Physics Services and the Oncology Nursing Society. He graduated from Indiana University of PA with a human resource major and psychology minor.
- Luis Rodriquez, CFBS Vice President, is a commercial leader and entrepreneur with over 30 years’ experience in health care, biotech, life science research and technology businesses – ranging in size from start-up to Fortune 500 companies such as Beckman Coulter, General Electric and Thermo Fisher Scientific. His strengths are customer service and developing, implementing and the ongoing optimization of service delivery solutions. His abilities also include extensive training and experience with continuous improvement methodologies such as Six Sigma, PPI, Kaizen and A3 process. He has a bachelor of science in healthcare administration from Barry University and is a chapter board member for the JDRF Diabetes Foundation.
- Jennifer Vazquez, CFBS Treasurer, works for Crothall Healthcare as a program implementation biomed. This year will be serving the board as treasurer. She is looking forward to another year with CFBS!
- Jen Davis, CFBS Secretary, brings over 15 years of industry experience. She currently works as vice president of parts at PhiGEM Parts, a 626 company. She has served on several biomed association boards and has a passion for growing the HTM society.
- Tracy Vazquez, CFBS Volunteer, is a full-time student at the University of Central Florida studying forensic science. She works as an executive assistant for Propel Forward LLC, as well as a research scientist for axiVEND LLC. As a volunteer with CFBIS, she is responsible for photographing and overseeing social events and conferences.
- Bruce Wells, Chapter Representative to FBS, is a project manager, clinical engineer implementation, for AdventHealth. In his role, he performs medical equipment projects, assists in the budget process for medical equipment planning and support model plan. He has worked for major OEMs such as Coulter, Coulter Beckman, Bayer, Siemens and has also worked in medical management/assets management companies. He started his clinical engineer/biomed career through the U.S. Army Medical Maintenance Program.
