Elevate HTM, a nonprofit organization dedicated to introducing youth to careers in healthcare technology management (HTM), has received its first grant from the Greater New Orleans Region One Center for STEM. The funding will expand Elevate HTM’s outreach programs and increase access to STEM-focused career pathways for students across the region.
The grant will support school visits, hands-on demonstrations, career day programming and the organization’s youth initiative, NextGen Pathways podcast, career exposures. Elevate HTM engages middle and high school students by exposing them to the critical role technicians play in maintaining and repairing life-saving medical equipment.
“Receiving our first grant is a major milestone for our organization and the students we serve,” said Bryant “B-Hawk” Hawkins Sr., founder and CEO of Elevate HTM. “We’re grateful to the Greater New Orleans Region One Center for STEM for believing in our mission. Their support allows us to reach more classrooms and inspire the next generation of HTM professionals.”
Healthcare technology management is one of the fastest-growing technical fields in the country, yet many students are unaware of the career opportunities within medical equipment technology. Elevate HTM aims to change that through early exposure and community partnerships.
The Greater New Orleans Region One Center for STEM focuses on expanding equitable STEM opportunities for students and strengthening future workforce pipelines in science, technology, engineering and mathematics.
