The 2024 FBS Symposium was held in February instead of its usual winter dates. Attendance was on par with the previous year with several new vendors and more than 500 attendees registered.
One surprise was the presentation of the inaugural Tech Choice Awards Association of the Year Award! FBS was selected as the top HTM association by those who make up the HTM community. Thousands of votes were cast with FBS earning the top spot!
The FBS also recently announced its newly elected officers. The new officers are:
• David Dilmore – President
• Mark Lopez – President Elect
• Fred McMutrie – Secretary
• Louis Katchis – Treasurer
Dilmore said, “As a younger person in the HTM community I felt it would put me in a position to inspire other people my age to enter the field and also see that they can progress quickly. I also see it as a very beneficial networking opportunity being a part of FBS!”
Dilmore was just one of the people who also praised the years of service and leadership Bill Hascup provided regarding the annual symposium up to his recent retirement from the organization.
“Of course, Bill Hascup must be recognized first and foremost,” Dilmore said. “Anyone involved in FBS knows he has played the most important role in its history. I would also like to recognize Amy (Hobbs), who took over as the symposium director this year following Bill’s retirement. She did an amazing job!”
“I had a great time planning this year’s symposium, but I could not have done it without Bill,” Hobbs said. “His knowledge helped me every step of the way. To know what he knows, will take anyone several years to catch up. I am just lucky enough to have him in my corner.”
