
“The COVID-19 Virus: Sharing Knowledge and Questions” webinar hosted by the Health Technology Alliance (HTA) was a complimentary 60-minute town hall type session. Healthcare technology and IT professionals shared their insights, experiences and questions about the COVID-19 virus and implications on the health care environment.
HTA steering committee members shared their experiences. They also talked through issues and questions with attendees. The session was sponsored by the HTA – a coalition of AAMI, ACCE and HIMSS members.
The webinar was moderated by AAMI Vice President of Healthcare Technology Management Danielle C. McGeary, CHTM. Panelists included Umberto Nocco, director of clinical engineering at ASST dei Sette Laghi in northern Italy; Mark Manning, division chair of HTM at the Mayo Clinic; Jeff Ruiz, technology manager for Trimedx at Holland Hospital; and Michael Marchant, HIE and integration director at UC Davis Medical Center.
Nocco provided a recap of what has happened at his hospital in northern Italy, one of the hardest hit areas, in the past month since “Patient 1” was diagnosed.
The panel then answered questions submitted by attendees. Marchant shared his perspective and knowledge from one of the hardest hit areas in North America. Manning and Marchant also provided advice and tips based on their experiences.
