Healthcare technology management professionals learned how advanced gas flow analysis can improve ventilator and anesthesia equipment testing during a recent TechNation Tools of the Trade Live Demo featuring the CITREX H5 from IMT Analytics. The webinar, presented by Daniel Benz, managing director of IMT Analytics, highlighted the capabilities of the portable testing device and was eligible for one continuing education credit through the ACI.
Designed for biomedical engineers, independent service providers and medical equipment manufacturers, the CITREX H5 is a high-end mobile gas flow analyzer engineered to test mechanical ventilators, anesthesia machines and other medical devices that generate gas flow and pressure. During the demonstration, Benz showcased how the instrument measures bi-directional flow, pressure, temperature and oxygen concentration while providing an intuitive user experience through its 5-inch multi-touch display.
Attendees also learned about several workflow-enhancing features, including profile handling, on-device testing applications and data recording capabilities that help improve measurement accuracy while reducing setup time and handling errors. Benz explained that when paired with IMT Analytics’ OR-703 MultiGasAnalyser, the CITREX H5 becomes a complete anesthesia machine testing solution capable of measuring carbon dioxide, nitrous oxide and common volatile anesthetic agents. He also demonstrated the system’s Bluetooth connectivity, allowing users to monitor test data wirelessly in real time through the company’s Flow mobile application.
The webinar concluded with a live question-and-answer session, during which attendees asked about ventilator compatibility, testing applications, customization options and the features that differentiate the CITREX H5 from competing gas flow analyzers.
Webinar attendees said the presentation provided valuable information they can apply in their daily work.
“Provided perspective and information on resources and tools that are available,” said Lacie Wiggam, a clinical engineer with TRIMEDX.
“It will definitely help my team,” said Sal Cruz, director of clinical engineering at Cook Children’s Medical Center.
Ladd DaFoe, a senior biomedical technician at Emplify Health by Gundersen, said the webinar “will assist in providing comprehensive testing of my ventilators.”
Brian Evans, a biomedical technician at Lee Memorial Hospital, said the demonstration “showed me options for test equipment for our department’s next purchase.”
Todd Peterson, a biomedical technician at Mary Greeley Medical Center in Iowa, was selected as the winner of the Swiss Force Meister Multi-Tool giveaway.
