
MARIETTA, Ga. | The Georgia Biomedical Instrumentation Society (GBIS) will bring together healthcare technology management (HTM) professionals from across the state Aug. 15-16 for its 2025 Technical Conference, featuring education, networking and industry exhibitions.
The event opens Friday with a meet-and-greet at Dave & Buster’s in Marietta, co-sponsored by Tenacore and United Infusion. Attendees will have the chance to network with fellow HTM professionals while enjoying food and beverages provided by the GBIS Board of Directors.
Saturday’s program begins with breakfast sponsored by BC Group, followed by welcoming remarks from GBIS Executive Director Emmanuel King, GBIS President Jessica Candelaria, and Ed Walters, biomedical engineering instructor at Chattahoochee Technical College.
Educational sessions will cover topics including cross-generational knowledge transfer, mitigating cybersecurity risks with legacy medical devices, soft skills in HTM, and hands-on demonstrations from Philips, GE Healthcare and Siemens.
The luncheon, sponsored by TRIMEDX, will feature the presentation of the Dr. Michael O’Rear Scholarship, followed by keynote speaker Danielle McGeary, vice president of the Association for the Advancement of Medical Instrumentation (AAMI).
Afternoon sessions will include a Women in Leadership panel, equipment integration challenges in HTM, and additional technical demonstrations. The conference will conclude with final remarks and the GBIS 2025 Annual Meeting.
GBIS is a professional association of biomeds, manufacturers, hospitals and colleges dedicated to advancing the knowledge and professionalism of those involved in the development, selection, operation, repair and support of biomedical instrumentation in Georgia’s healthcare institutions.
