Madigan Army Medical Center’s Clinical Engineering Section (CES) has been awarded the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) 9001:2008 – Quality Management Systems (QMS) certification, making them the first MTF CES in the Department of Defense to earn such a distinction. Previously, only medical equipment repair depots have earned the certification.
To qualify, organizations must demonstrate the ability to consistently provide products that meet customer need and applicable statutory and regulatory requirements. The aim is to enhance customer satisfaction through effective application of the system, including establishing a process for continual improvement and conformity to established requirements.
SFC Thomas Vise was the CES’s Champion for the review, revision and implementation of program improvements; including development of SOPs, computer databases, and a training program for staff to ensure their familiarization with the new systems and compliance with ISO standards.
Although multiple MTF’s have begun the process, none have been able to complete the rigorous requirements to qualify for ISO certification.
SFC Vise’s efforts over the past year and the CES leadership and staff’s commitment and dedication directly attribute to MAMC’s overall mission success and exemplify the highest standards of competence and professionalism.
