The Michigan Society of Clinical Engineers hosts a meeting tonight (Wednesday April 16, 2025) with presenter Jay W. Hall, M.S., P.E. Meeting will be held at Trinity Health Livonia Hospital LIMI-Auditorium South from 5-7Â p.m.
Hall will present “Measuring Quality in the Service Provider Environment.”
Hall says:
“The Joint Commission was very big on Quality and Performance Improvement starting in the 1990s. To assess where we were, and where to focus on improvement, we developed an evaluation tool for Biomedical Engineering Services in the hospital and clinic environment that was used in over 350 HCA Hospitals.
From 2001-2008 I was manager at Corporate Clinical Engineering St. John Health System in Warren, Michigan, where I developed the tool I will discuss in this presentation. From 1996-1998, I was the director and Corporate Quality Assurance; and District Manager for National MD, Inc., (A GE Medical Systems Company) in Cleveland Ohio where I designed and implemented our internal QA program.
My presentation will discuss how the evaluation tool was developed and its roots in the literature on the ServQual model. (The validation of that tool for Biomedical delivery services was done by Greg Davis, VP at NMD for his Master’s thesis in the early 1990s). Some food for thought and improvement of the services we provide to our customers. How we are perceived and measured. The tool can easily be used by all at our local grocery store!”
