The 2017 TechNation HTM Week contest generated several entries and we are excited to announce the winner is Janet Pavenyouma, Biomedical Specialist III, at Yuma Regional Medical Center.
The contest asked HTM professionals to share information about an HTM professional that serves as an inspiration and/or mentor to others. Pavenyouma shined the spotlight on industry veteran William “Bill” Griffith.
“If you’re lucky you will come into a Biomed Shop that has a biomed that is a rock, the backbone of the department. I have been at Yuma Regional Medical Center a little under a year and have the privilege of working with William (Bill) Griffith,” Pavenyouma writes. “Bill, Lead Biomedical Engineering Technician III, has been working for YRMC in Biomedical Engineering since July 1987! He’s our lead, next in charge, and our ‘Google’ when we need help. He carries a vast amount of responsibility with such ease.”
“The amazing quality Bill has is taking everything on with a smile and calm demeanor,” she adds. “Bill is a mentor and inspiration to our little shop of 7. His amassed wealth of knowledge over his near 30-year career has made his mind invaluable (making us joke we are going to import his brain into a computer so he stays with the shop forever.)”
“Bill inspires me to ‘be like Bill,’ taking on everyday challenges with ease knowing that you will eventually be able to solve/fix them, be calm and patient with our customers because you don’t know what kind of day they had, and let work roll off your back once you clock out and leave the office,” she continues. “It’s difficult to imagine our shop without Bill, he’s a constant in our ever-changing world. I consider myself lucky to have come into a shop blessed with such an individual.”
TechNation salutes all of the entries and everyone in HTM. Thank you for your important work!
