Wayne Shockey recently announced that he has started a new position as area director of biomedical engineering-east at Wellstar Health System.
His duties include overseeing the Wellstar Biomedical Engineering Eastern operation for 1,000 hospital beds and multiple offsite clinic facilities in a 150 mile geographic area in Georgia. Responsibilities include:
- Implementing the biomedical engineering operation at a brand new 140 bed hospital in September 2026
- Overseeing the biomedical engineering operations at the existing Wellstar Eastern area facilities
- Capital equipment replacement planning and budgeting
- Regulatory compliance
- Metrics management
- Biomed/IT project collaboration
- Service delivery management
- Cost of maintenance control
- Employee development
- Nurturing key customer relationships from C-suite to individual contributors
