This past holiday weekend many of us were enjoying that last summer fling perhaps at the beach, Labor Day festivals or maybe camping with family and friends. As a mid-westerner the change of seasons for me is a time of “renewal” – a look forward into the next exciting chapter of the year. Autumn with its vibrant colors and cooler temperatures reminds us again that time moves forward and with that so do us as HTM professionals.
In this Autumn season of “renewal” we see near end of year HTM service training schedules in their final stretch, budget planning for the next fiscal year coming to completion and upcoming conferences such as the 31st Annual Biomedical Association of Wisconsin September 23-26 in Milwaukee and the Florida Biomedical Association hosting of the Fall MD Expo October 1-3 in Orlando. Both of these educational events feature HTM industry experts, vendor exhibit halls and many HTM professional “renewal” events which enable the attendees in being on the leading edge of the profession. Squeeze these two great events onto your calendar if they are not already and attend. You will leave feeling “renewed”!
Another “rite of excitement” that in many HTM circles fosters team building and comradery is the Autumn kick-off of the football season. Be it youth, high school, college, NFL or perhaps the fantasy league many participate in – no other sport today garners as much chatter among HTM professionals gathered in the break room or at the lunch table. The departments and clinical areas we as HTM professionals either as a member of or serve are much like sport teams relying on one another in achieving the many goals and tasks that are presented. As it is said, there is no “I” in team!
However you enter into this awesome Autumnal equinox season, take some time to view and enjoy the vibrant colors of those you work alongside with and serve. Value and enable your time in the HTM profession, take in its offerings and contribute back with your hard work so that others to can reap the yield of its harvest as well.
