Ruth and I were having lunch at our local hangout and I was struck by the efficiency and effectiveness of society’s nourishment delivery system. I thought of the days in our development when nourishment was mostly dependent on each individual’s capabilities for hunting and gathering.
I became engrossed in the vision of a family who lived in a cave somewhere. The woman tending to the fire with a baby firmly attached to a breast. She anxiously waited for the man to come home with whatever animal was slower or dumber than he was on that particular day.
Upon entering the cave, he drops the animal at the woman’s feet and grunts. She dutifully takes the animal, skins it, guts it and throws it on the fire. They eat, poop in a corner, go to sleep and repeat the next day.
Ruth was not amused with my lunch conversation yet I continued on.
Today, the means of the hunter and the gatherer are dramatically altered. All we need is someone to make money somehow and we can go to a restaurant. In the restaurant, they have already murdered whatever animal we want to devour. They will throw it in the pot or the fire and serve it to us with flair and French fries and beer.
We still have to poop in a corner although now it is an enclosed corner. We also don’t have to find a new cave when the corner gets full.
That reminds me of a Joke: Chief Bowel is having to move because a new road is being built right through where his teepee is…… Wait that joke is offensive to many. Never mind, forget I mentioned it.

Today I am going to drive my 6000 lb Cadillac Escalade to the McDonalds drive thru to capture a one dollar hamburger.
Hey, be very careful. Those burgers are dangerous.
