I received a notice in the mail last month that my driver license would expire on January 9, my birthday. (I’m still accepting cards and checks from well-wishers and friends).
I dutifully went on line as instructed and completed the information and submitted my application – A painless process. I had a somewhat bad feeling because I have never had such an easy experience with any Department of Motor Vehicles in any state. Sadly, my premonition proved correct. Read on if you have time.
My shiny new license arrived about 9 days later. I destroyed the old license even though it was still valid for a couple of weeks.
I was at the bank and the transaction required my identification. I handed the individual my new license and that is when it all began. The individual informed me that the license was not a valid ID and showed me the description just above the Driver License logo. “NOT FOR FEDERAL OFFICIAL USE”
